I. Environmental Protection

Every year new saplings are planted to celebrate Vanamahotsava Day and also during the Citizenship Training Camp. The students are divided department wise and take turns to water the saplings, plants and trees in the college campus by which the need for Environmental Education is given importance. Objectives of the Practice:

To inculcate environmental values.
To appreciate the value and use of medicinal plants
To concern for global environment.
To inculcate Civic responsibilities.
To ensure Community Orientation.

1. It enables the students to appreciate and enjoy nature and society makes them conscious of the problems of population explosion, depletion of natural resources, global warming etc.,

2. It helps develop a set of values and feelings of concern for the environment and encouragement or motivation for active participation in protection and improvement of environment.

3. It is essential for the self-fulfilment and social development of the students.

4. It plays an important role in understanding and appreciating how the environment is used to protect mankind.

5. It inculcates a concern for the systematic change of environment for the distant and immediate welfare of mankind.

6. Medicinal Garden Maintenance:
A medicinal Garden is maintained near the MGR Block both to beautify and appreciate the value of natural resources and for enhancing awareness of the value of Medicinal plants.

7. Mini Forestation helps to enhance oxygenation in the campus.

8. Tobacco and Smoke free zone ensured.

9. Plastic free zone.

II. Experiential Learning:

In the Pandemic situation the concept of Service Learning has been introduced whereby the Student teachers are trained to identify students in their immediate community and cater to their learning needs. They teach any five needs based skills namely e-mail writing, banking skills or related to their subject base. As the students are from different parts of rural Tamilnadu this is a productive and useful activity leading to mutual satisfaction of the teaxher and the taught.

Objectives of the Practice:

To inculcate service mindedness.
To appreciate the finer aspects of catering to learning needs.
To inculcate Professional Ethics.
To inculcate Civic responsibilities.
To help in Community Orientation.
To develop sensitivity to local community.

Impact of the practice:

The student teachers are very interested in this Service learning. They feel happy doing this service to the underprivileged in their immediate locality. They write a record of their experience with photographs of the teaching episodes.

III. Value Education & Community Orientation Programme

1. Importance of values and professional ethics is constantly emphasized. Pledges are undertaken by the Teacher Trainees in the morning Assembly.

2. As part of the B.Ed curriculum citizenship-training camp program is organized, in which student teachers take up Adult Education programs, campus cleaning, and cleaning of neighbourhood areas. They visit nearby schools and under developed areas and render services like white washing the schools, conducting special classes and take tuitions for slow learners after college working hours.

3. Citizenship training camp for 5 days is organized with lectures on AIDS Awareness, Safety and First aid, demonstrations on Scout, fire extinction etc., apart from taking up community services. Importance of physical fitness is recognized by way of giving practice in Yoga. Many Professors and reputed speakers from Anna University, Education Colleges, and Arts and Science Colleges are invited to enlighten the students in various subjects such as latest trends in Education. Law, discipline management, first aid, water management, cleanliness, hygiene and social adjustment through group living etc.,

4. Blood donation camp is organized every year by the college Youth Red Cross society in association with the Rotary club thus the college has established contacts with neighbourhood schools and social service organizations.

5. Every year, the college organizes a teaching aids exhibition. School children nearby visit and benefit by it. Students display the educational aids prepared by them and donate them to the schools.

6. NSS, Rotaract Club, Consumer Club, Alumni Association, YRC and SSL all aim at maximum dissemination of service to the community.
